Last week the children in our Early Years went on their visit to Scotswood Community Garden. Thank you to the grown ups who came along to help; we couldn’t do it without you! The session was aimed at supporting children’s understanding of the world they live in and seasonal change. During the visit children learnt about how some animals, like hedgehogs, hibernate in the winter. The children worked hard to use Autumn leaves and branches to build a nest for a hedgehog – the main aim was to keep the hedgehog warm. The children had a fabulous time and, as always, demonstrated our school values: respect, resilience, responsibility and engagement.
Year 6 started Farm School this week. They were introduced to all of the animals including Sausage and Bacon two enormous pigs !
The children loved this experience and are hoping to persuade Mrs Jeynes to enrol some animals into our school !

Year 5 and 6 have made a wonderful start to maths this year: we have been thoroughly enjoying revising our understanding of place value. We have used number discs and diagrams to practise partitioning numbers in lots of different ways. We have also been outside finding number bonds to 10,000 and 1 million in the sunshine. We can now find our ‘number partner’ in 2 mins 47 seconds! Maths is so much fun!
