Year 3 Autumn Term Learning

2nd February 2023Cathryn Henderson

The autumn term has been jam packed in year 3 . We have spent some glorious days at farm school learning about where our food comes from and learning how to care for animals . We researched packaging to help us create our own packaging . We have become more skilled during our drumming classes and enjoyed exciting Pe sessions including one with Lucy  A GB champion . We have investigated  types of  rocks using systematic testing to decode if they were igneous , metamorphic or sedementary . We also wrote our own poem to support the reach out nation wide theme for anti- bullying week.

Year 3

Whole School STEM Building Project

1st December 2022Cathryn Henderson

Over the last two days, every child from Reception to Year 6 has taken part in a STEM project.in collaboration with the KAPLA workshop team. They have learned how to work as a team and shown resilience and engagement with the process in order to complete their final build.

We have built ski villages, giraffes, houses, crocodiles, boats and so much more! The wooden bricks needed to be carefully placed to make different shapes that would stand tall. There was no glue, no fixing mechanisms, just pure determination and a methodical, systematic approach.

We are so proud of what we managed to achieve together! A massive thank you to all of those parents and adults that helped our children enjoy an amazing learning experience.

In assembley they launched the idea of a bake sale to the whole school. Each member of the student council explained why they loved our animals so much and how important they were to everyone in school.

The children made 300 cakes and dedicated some of their lunch break to sell them to the rest of the school.

Everyone loved their cake and Wow!!! we raised £75.93. The next decision is what to buy!!

Rainforest Art

27th September 2021Cathryn Henderson

Year 3 have been working super hard on their art skills. We have been painting, sketching, mixing colours and using water and paint to create washes. All of our art work has been based on our topic of Rainforests. The children have been working and using their skills to create a final piece of art work inspired by our artist, Henri Rousseau. We are impressed with how well the children have been working in Year 3 and cannot wait to see the final pieces of artwork that they have created!
