In Spring year three have visited the Winter Gardens to learn about the rainforest as well as visiting church to see symbolism within the church.
In science the children have learned about the detailed parts of a plant involved in the life cycle to accompany this they have created rainforest art in the style of Henry Rousseau.
In ICT the children have learned how to code using scratch, a topic they have very much enjoyed and excelled at.
In music the children have improvised and composed music and rhythems using Bob Marleys’ , Three Little Birds as inspitation.
During our Seal lesson we have been considering risks and how to manage them, the children have learned how to reduce risks by following steps involving thinking through the problem and taking a breath to consider the risks.
Today we celebrated achieving the Rainbow Flag Award for diversity.
We are proud to announce that we have achieved the Rainbow Flag Award which focuses on our whole school approach to the positive inclusion and visibility of
LGBT+ people. At primary school level this means understanding that all families are different and this is amazing!
This half term, our focus at forest school has been on identifying birds and how to look after them. We started by making a bird hide, using the binoculars to look for birds on the school site. Every week we have reinforced the importance of looking after the birds in the Winter and made various different bird feeders.
As part of our exploration work, Nursery took part in a local visit to the Post Office. Whilst walking there, we drew attention to the key features of their local community, including road names, homes and the different shops to visit.
When arriving at the Post Office, the children weighed, checked the size of their special letters and then posted them.
On the 23rd January, children in Language Unit 2 visited the Laing Art Gallery in Newcastle to support their art topic. They took part in a workshop where they learnt all about different watercolour techniques, created their own water colour paintings and viewed water colour paintings within the gallery.
