Last week the children in our Early Years went on their visit to Scotswood Community Garden. Thank you to the grown ups who came along to help; we couldn’t do it without you! The session was aimed at supporting children’s understanding of the world they live in and seasonal change. During the visit children learnt about how some animals, like hedgehogs, hibernate in the winter. The children worked hard to use Autumn leaves and branches to build a nest for a hedgehog – the main aim was to keep the hedgehog warm. The children had a fabulous time and, as always, demonstrated our school values: respect, resilience, responsibility and engagement.
Parents and Carers joined their children for an afternoon helping bees, butterflies and other insects. Everyone planted wildflowers to help the school grounds for nature, they then made a recycled butterfly feeder, plant pot and hanging basket full of butterfly friendly flowers to take home.
Thank you to everyone who took part and to West Boldon Lodge for working with us.
