Today Year 3 school councillors attended the Town Hall to learn about democracy.
The children took part in a fictiicious election to appoint a new leader for Stary Land!
During this process the children discussed the qualities a good leader should have, they sat in the council chamber to listen to speeches from the prospective candidates then took part in a ballot.
The children were amazing ambassadors for our school, they thoroughly enjoyed their experience and learned lots about democracy!

Well done Year 4 ! what amazing Stone Age home learning projects !
Our school councillors set a competition to win South Shields Football Club season tickets. They decided that the competition would be won by the class that had the best attendance over a whole week. Reception Class won the competition so our councillors went to Reception Class to tell them the exciting news!
Mrs. Shepherd and her class were very excited and proud of themselves. Year 6 Student Councillors then chose a number at random and the winner of the season tickets was announced. Well Done Reception Class!
Today governors of the standards and evaluation committee came into school. The governors took a tour of the school to see how resources have been spent and to see the curriculum being delivered across school.
Governors then reviewed the childrens books to see how the children had progressed.
Year 4 have enjoyed a day at Jarrow Hall doing a Stone Age Workshop. We have made our own bread, cloth, clay drinking cups, an axe and we also learnt how to travel safely if we were moving settlements.
This term Year 4 are learning about the Stone Age, In art we have experimented with charcoal to create online drawings of animals found in the British countryside.
We have also created our very own textured paper to create our cave wall designs on.
