Year 1 have really enjoyed their first week back!  We’ve been practising basic skills in maths, learning about odd and even numbers in our morning Mastering number sessions, identifying hot and cold places in Geography, learning about the features of traditional tales in English, forming letters carefully in handwriting lessons and evaluating the collages of Barbara Shaw and Megan Coyle in art.

Lots of certificates for engagement, responsibility and reader of the week. Well done Year 1 – a fabulous start to the spring term.

Happy Retirement

Today we said goodbye and Happy Retirement to our lovely kitchen assistant. Moira has been serving delicious meals to our children, their parents and their parents for 32 years!

 

 

Helping our Community

Today the children showed great citizenship, they wanted to help members of our community this winter so they teamed togther with local charity, Hebburn Helps.

The children collected donations of warm blankets and hot water bottles in school, the student council then delivered them to Hebburn Helps who will distribute them to families in need.

Whole School STEM Building Project

Over the last two days, every child from Reception to Year 6 has taken part in a STEM project.in collaboration with the KAPLA workshop team. They have learned how to work as a team and shown resilience and engagement with the process in order to complete their final build.

We have built ski villages, giraffes, houses, crocodiles, boats and so much more! The wooden bricks needed to be carefully placed to make different shapes that would stand tall. There was no glue, no fixing mechanisms, just pure determination and a methodical, systematic approach.

We are so proud of what we managed to achieve together! A massive thank you to all of those parents and adults that helped our children enjoy an amazing learning experience.

School Council Bake Sale

The school council decided that they would like to buy some resources for our chilckens and ducks.

In assembley they launched the idea of a bake sale to the whole school. Each member of the student council explained why they loved our animals so much and how important they were to everyone in school.

The children made 300 cakes and dedicated some of their lunch break to sell them to the rest of the school.

Everyone loved their cake and Wow!!! we raised £75.93. The next decision is what to buy!!

Year 6 at the Hancock Museum

Today, Year 6 visited the Hancock Museum! We re-visited our learning about the Ancient Greeks and completed a workshop linked to our new topic of Evolution, as well as having the chance to explore other exhibitions on display!

Children Smash their Times tables!

Year 4 have been practising their times tables this term and have made some magnificent progress. Our times table club has been incredibly popular on a lunchtime and is really helping us prepare for our times table check in June.

As we were doing so well, we entered the competition on TTRS along with another 28,260 schools in England. We got over 48,000 questions correct and blew our teachers’ socks off with how well we did! We finished in the top 2% of the country! We are incredibly proud of our hard work and look forward to becoming even better in the future!
