The children are learning all about plants in gardening club. They have been working very hard planting flowers around the school grounds and sowing seeds in the Hedworthfield vegetable plot.
Our school nurse visited us to teach us how we can help keeping our bodies healthy and the importance of hand washing. We learnt where germs come from and how to wash our hands correctly to stop germs from spreading.
As part of their topic ‘Zoom’ Year 1 enjoyed a trip to the George Stephenson Railway Museum. The children enjoyed going on a train hunt, listening to the story of George Stephenson’s life and experiencing a very special train ride with Santa.
Year 1 and Language Unit 1 visited St Nicholas’ church to understand why it is so important to Christians.
Father Raymond talked about all the wonderful things the church provides for the Christian community. The children also looked around the different parts of the church and identified a range of features.
The children enjoyed exploring the church and finding out what it has to offer the local community.
