Monday 11th January

Welcome to week 2 of home learning. We are sharing our lessons for the week with you today and have kept it as simple to follow as possible. If you finish your work, you can always try Reading Plus, IXL, Mathletics or Purple Mash. You do not need to wait for us to assign additional activities. Thank you for your support so far. We will be having a Zoom call daily starting from TUESDAY 12th at 9am everyday. Links will be sent out via class dojo. Thanks

We hope you are all well. Things will be a little different but we have planned some fantastic activities and we will be checking in via video call to see how you are getting on! You can complete the activities in any order but they should last the whole week.

Week 4 Monday 29th June

Wow! What a week! Miss Sparks has spent most of lock down cycling around the North-East but had a pretty bad crash last Friday and has broken her shoulder! Mrs Arthur, also a keen cyclist, went out on her bike two days later and has a broken collar bone! The Y5/ Y6 team will be staying away from bicycles in the future months!!! We are both ok and look forward to catching up with you all soon!

Literacy: Paragraphs are a collection of sentences. They are used in writing to introduce new sections of a story, characters, ideas or pieces of information. Homophones are words that sound the same but have different meanings. They also have different spellings like here and hear or see and sea. Recap your knowledge of homophones – these words can be tricky!

This week we are going to set you kindness challenges for you to try and complete. We would also love you to share with us the various different ways you are showing kindness at home. We know you already show kindness in your lives and some of the challenges will be things you already do; we just want to emphasise the importance and spread kindness across our families.

Monday’s Challenge – Be a good role model and be kind to the people you interact with throughout the day (online or at home). Ensure your behaviour is the behaviour you want to see in everyone across the world. Most importantly, say please and thank you at every opportunity today.

Read at least one of their reading books at home and answer simple questions or if they are on longer texts 4 chapters each day or one unit of reading plus  daily	Children will be expected to work on one section  of spag.com each  day	Children will be expected to complete one unit of Mathletics  each day	TT rockstars can be completed  each day.	There will be a curriculum linked activity on the school website each day. It might be watching a  simple video or completing  a short activity through Purple mash.com in the  2 do section.

Happy Easter Holidays! 

We hope you can relax and have some fun over the holidays. We know it will feel a little bit different but hopefully it won’t be long until things return back to normal. We will not be setting any work over the holidays – have fun and relax. Why not try making these delicious Easter Nests?

To make chocolate nests:

• Add 100g of butter, 1 tbsp cocoa powder, 50g milk chocolate buttons and 75g of golden syrup in a bowl.
• Microwave on high for 1.5mins and mix together.
• Crumble 4 Shredded Wheat over the bowl and mix with rest of ingredients.
• Place a generous spoonful in each of 12 bun case (the nests).
• Press the centre of each nest down slightly to form a dip and place 3 chocolate mini eggs in each dip.
• Chill for 30 minutes before serving.

If you do want to do something, remember you can still use Reading Plus, IXL (new passwords), TTRS or Mathletics but we won’t be setting any work for you.

Have a good Easter and if you decorate an egg, don’t forget to send us a picture on the school Facebook page.

Good morning year 5!

A few changes this week… Instead of setting our curriculum job on purple mash each day, we will be alternating between purple mash and some arty/ D&T tasks you can complete at home linked to our topics.
