Language Unit 1 has had a brilliant start to the year. In Maths we have done lots of work around place value working practically with concrete resources before moving towards more abstract methods.

In English we have looked at labels, lists and captions and even had a visit from the Highway Rat who stole lots of our classroom labels! We also created our own rhyming poems, thinking carefully about rhyming strings. We even performed our own creations to each other.

As part of our Geography topic we took a look around our local area – picking out human and physical features and seeing if we could spot any local landmarks. We then had to use a compass to help find our way back to school.

In RE we learned all about Hanukkah and even recreated the celebration. We coloured a menorah, made a dreidel, cooked potato latkes and even ate delicious donuts.

When learning about IT in our computing lesson, we imitated a till considering the advantages and disadvantages of technology and later in the unit discussed how to use IT responsibly and having ‘a balanced digital diet’ using the Digital 5 a day.

We even had time to squeeze in a Harvest assembly. We spoke confidently in front of an audience, remembered and performed songs and most importantly had a brilliant time!
